Apr. 8: 10th Annual Caterpillar Parade in Clinton

Inspired by the caterpillar-shaped step ladder in Olde Towne's Lions Club Park, the Caterpillar Parade features Calliope, a fifty foot long caterpillar, and welcomes hundreds of participants each year.

Anyone and everyone is invited to march in the parade, from parents with strollers and wagons to children on bikes. The parade is unique to Clinton and has gained notoriety throughout the metro area and the state of Mississippi. Main Street encourages everyone to get involved by decorating your business, storefront, or home with a Caterpillar theme.

The parade begins with a reading of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" at Lions Club Park. Following the reading, participants will line up for the parade. The parade will be led by the grand marshal, golf cart floats, a marching band, and Calliope the Caterpillar. The Caterpillar Queen and her Butterfly Courtwill be highlighted as the finale of the parade. Concluding the parade is the Caterpillar Queen's crowning ceremony, where the Butterfly Court and past Queens will be recognized. Children can enjoy a magic show, puppet show, and bounce houses following the crowning ceremony, and each child will receive a caterpillar chrysalis from Main Street.
