PASCAGOULA

Welcome to Pascagoula, Mississippi’s Flagship City!

Nestled on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico, the county seat of Jackson County has long been known for jobs created through Ingalls Shipbuilding, Chevron, and various other industries. Blending unsurpassed beauty with a vigorous economy, Pascagoula is definitely Mississippi’s Flagship City.

We invite you to experience Pascagoula’s warm and friendly hospitality, rich history, and breath-taking scenery. Come and enjoy the awesome sunrises over the water and our spectacular sunsets as you rest under gigantic moss covered oaks at our renovated beach park.

Our historic downtown offers great shopping and diverse dining experiences with everything from country home cooking to ethnic foods to sushi. Add to this a bustling night life featuring live entertainment.

With over 20 state awards, Pascagoula boasts an outstanding Main Street Community. The committees actively seek out new ways to continue making great things happen in our city. A prime example is Frets, a downtown bar and eatery that won this year’s retail revitalization award. The owner, musician Charley Cook and partners, have created a cool, urban space with exposed brick walls, a soaring tin ceiling, and food that is “smack your mama good.” On weekends, Frets plays host to many out of town bands and local bands. Making a visit to Frets is a must while visiting.

Changing the look of downtown is a City of Pascagoula façade grant program, using CDBG funds totaling $112,500 for downtown business owners. Seven businesses participated in the program with the city providing engineering and design. Construction costs were split 75/25 with the owners. One of the owners opened a new sushi restaurant and used the façade money to completely reinvent an old shotgun house that was previously an eyesore to downtown.

Arts on the Avenue is one of the newest additions to downtown. The gallery features local art available for purchase such as pottery, jewelry, paintings ,and much more. Instructors for painting, photography, and pottery offer classes for both children and adults. Who knows, you may find your inner artist while taking a class at Arts on the Avenue.

Located only a block from the river front is the new retail village now known as Anchor Square. Within walking distance of downtown, Anchor Square is a cozy shopping venue with 16 Mississippi cottages clustered around a spacious boardwalk. There you will find restaurants, home décor, children’s apparel, women’s clothing, gifts, a photography studio and even a hair salon. Each shop with its distinctive personality has much to entice you, so come and see the latest in revitalization.

Come on down and see our city! We are proud of Pascagoula with its vitality, its progress, its hospitality, and its unsurpassed beauty! Cruise on down to visit us! We are expecting you!
