Community Designation Process

 

Sustainability Services
• Annual Assessment to determine National Accreditation
• Twenty (20) hours of telephone consultation
• One (1) 4-hour on-site staff visit covering the topic area of your choice
• One Day assessment conducted by MMSA Staff and selected professional consultants
• Ongoing contact with the District Director and staff
• Mississippi Vision Plan in the first of Membership

 

Technical Assistance
• Eligible to apply for Technical Assistance
(This could be used for Design or Other Consulting Services)
• Eligible for Main Street Member Rates on technical services

 

Training
• Four Main Street Trainings at Main Street Member Rates
• New Director Orientation (Main Street 101)

 

Educational Resources
• Directors' resource area of website
• Enewsletter, grants and information blasts

 

Special Events and Networking
• Eligible for MMSA Annual Awards of Excellence
• Exclusive eligibility for the Charles O. Beasley Scholarship Award (Annual fund awarded to Director to attend National Main Street conference)
• District/Area Director Meetings
• Annual Four Point Trainings

• Membership to National Main Street Center (First Year)
• Exclusive rights to Mississippi Main Street Community Branding and National Main Street America Affiliation

 

Joint Marketing
• Eligible to participate in joint Main Street marketing promotions

 

Communities must be invited to participate in MMSA’s Application and Selection Process. Applications must be recommended by a Selection Committee and approved by the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Main Street Association. MMSA Membership Application

 

Designated Main Street Communities must sign an annual Memorandum of Agreement, follow the Main Street Four Point Approach, the Main Street Eight Guiding Principles and complete the 10 National Main Street Criteria (for National Main Street accreditation).
