During this phase of the downtown revitalization initiative, Main Street Greenville accomplished several significant tasks that enhanced the visual appeal of the downtown district. Main Street Greenville:
Pressure-washed four storefronts in the 600 block of Washington Avenue.
Secured and installed a set of planters in front of the IRS building at 619 Washington Avenue.
Installed a new facade on the 627 Washington Avenue building, now home to the local newspaper.
Applied vinyl coverings to mask the blight and deterioration of a dilapidated building in the 300 block until it can be renovated, thereby improving curb appeal.
The total financial investment by Main Street Greenville for this phase was $9,851.36. Contributions from partnering organizations and businesses further enhanced the project with the following elements:
Installation of nine additional planters ($3,789.90).
Lighting upgrades.
Recovering of an awning.
A wall mural in the 300 block of Washington Avenue depicting cultural landmarks in the community ($15,000.00).
