About Kosciusko

Kosciusko is a city on the trace.  Located in Attala County, Mississippi, Kosciusko was founded in 1833 and is the birthplace of legendary blues musician, Charlie Musselwhite, civil rights activist James Meredith, artist, LV Hull and renowned TV series host, Oprah Winfrey. Kosciusko, first developed along the historic Natchez Trace, was used by generations of Native Americans and later European settlers. The original trace passes directly through the heart of downtown, while the newly oriented Natchez Trace Parkway is seated just a few miles away at mile marker 160.  Kosciusko is located northeast of the state capital of Jackson. Choate’s park, Redbud Springs, beautiful homes and the historic Courthouse are only a few of the amenities travelers will find when visiting our community.
