About Saltillo

Saltillo is a small welcoming town with a big heart nestled the in the hills of North Mississippi. Saltillo is a city in Lee County, Mississippi and is considered a small bedroom community adjacent to Tupelo. According to Data USA, Saltillo has a relatively young population. The median age is approximately 35 years old, with the highest percentage of the population being between 25 and 54 years of age. The city of Saltillo is experiencing continuous growth.

In just the past five years under the leadership of Deanna Knight, Saltillo Main Street has driven significant downtown revitalization, including 28 new business openings, 8 business expansions, 15 façade rehabilitations, and the creation of more than 100 new jobs. Key accomplishments include public art installations (including a City Hall mural), development of a new Farmers’ Market Pavillion through ARPA funding and a Pocket Park transformation.

Saltillo is blooming with exciting progress! The city recently celebrated the groundbreaking of a brand new pocket park in partnership with the Fred Carl Jr. Small Town Center at Mississippi State University. In addition, Saltillo has secured partial funding by the Mississippi Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration to build The Connection, a new walking track and biking trail, bringing even more opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy the outdoors.

Public art is also taking place as work continues on a vibrant Rockabilly themed mural that will add character and creativity to the downtown area.

Saltillo keeps the community engaged with festive events. Be sure to check out the Saltillo Shop Hop and Easter Egg Hunt, both happening on April 4, perfect ways to celebrate the season with family and friends.

As part of the Keep Mississippi Beautiful program, daffodils are in full bloom just in time for spring, complemented by newly refreshed landscaping features throughout downtown. These enhancements make Saltillo an even more welcoming and beautiful place to visit.

From parks and public art to events and beautification, Saltillo is a wonderful example of great outcomes from their Main Street efforts.
